LAに住み始めてから以下の通り度重なるアメリカの歴史的重大局面をLA住まいのモブキャラとして目の当たりにし、どれも『忘れちゃいけない』と思い、その中の一つLA山火事について記憶がまだ近いうちにまとめてみました。
Since I started living in LA, I have witnessed the following major historical events as a mob character living in LA, and I thought that none of them should be “forgotten”, so I summarized one of them, the LA wildfires, while my memory is still close.

山火事情報サイト2選 / Two wildfire reporting sites
以下2つのサイトはどちらも在住歴の長い知人に教えていただきました。
どちらもどこで山火事が発生したかが「🔥」マークで一目瞭然かと思いますので、ご自身が分かりやすい方で問題ないと思います。
Both of the following two websites were given to me by a friend who has lived in LA for a long time.
I think it will be able to tell at a glance where the wildfire occurred by the “🔥” symbol on both sites, so I think you should be fine with whichever is easier for you to understand.

ここからの写真は、私が山火事の期間に撮りためていたものです。
日本からこういった海外の悲しいニュースを見ていた時は、それでもどこか『他人事』として見てしまっていましたが、実際に体験してみると別。本当に起こったことなので、記録を記しておきます。
The photos from here are ones I had taken during the wildfire period.
When I was watching this kind of sad news from overseas from Japan, I still saw it as somewhat “other people’s business,” but when I actually experienced it, it was different. Since it really happened, I would like to record it here.
山火事１,２日目 / Wildfire Day 1 & 2
- 1/7/2025：山火事初日 (Wildfire Day 1)

当初高級住宅街のパリセーズで発生した山火事(赤丸)が、夕方ごろにはパサデナでも山火事(黄色丸)が発生しました。The wildfire, which initially started in the exclusive residential district of Pacific Palisades (red circle) , was followed by another wildfire in Pasadena around evening (yellow circle).
観光地でも有名なサンタモニカの山火事の映像もテレビで報道されていましたね。。。
The wildfires in Santa Monica, a famous tourist destination, were also reported on TV.
1/7/2025 Santa Monica ブーケ💐この日の夜は、マンションの窓や通気口を通じて煙の匂いが侵入してきて、煙臭すぎて息ができなかった・・・。
On this night, the smell of smoke invaded through the apartment windows and vents, and I could not breathe because of the smoke smell…. - 1/8/2025：山火事2日目の朝 (Wildfire 2nd morning)

こちらは、決して朝焼けではありません。。。This is by no means a morning glow.
この日、ダウンタウンの空はパサデナから流れてきた灰で覆われ、山火事がそれを照らし、異様な光景が広がっていました。On this particular day, the downtown sky was covered with ash that had drifted in from Pasadena, and wildfires lit it up, creating an odd sight.ブーケ💐もちろん外は目に見えて灰が降っており、学校は安全が確認できるまで休校になったよ。。。Of course it was visibly ashy outside and schools were closed until it was safe to go in.
翌朝7:00頃の様子 / The next morning around 7:00am - 1/8/2025：山火事2日目の夕方 (Wildfire 2nd night)

夕方～夜にかけて、ハリウッド地域(青丸)でも山火事が発生しました。
Wildfires also broke out in the Hollywood area (blue circle) during the evening and night.
山火事３日目 / Wildfire Day 3
灰が流れる方向をGoogle Map上で確認できることを知り、ダウンタウンが灰で覆われてしまったのも納得できました。※写真からも、山側から海側へ灰が流れていますね。
Knowing that I could see the direction of the ash flow on Google Maps, I was convinced that downtown was covered with ash. *The photo also shows that the ash is flowing from the mountain side to the ocean side.
また、右写真のような緊急(避難/Evacuation)アラートも受信していました。
In addition, I also got an emergency (evacuation) alert as shown in the right photo.
ブーケ💐外に出て灰や化学物質を吸い込みたくなかったので、しばらくの間は、家に引きこもってたよ。こういう時に、家で準備していた非常食が役に立ったな。。『備えあれば患いなし』
I didn’t want to go outside and inhale ash or chemicals, so I stayed holed up at home for a while. During times like this, the emergency food I had prepared at home really came in handy. “Preparedness prevents suffering.“
山火事３,４日目 / Wildfire Day 3 & 4
山火事が丸で囲んだ箇所以外にも山火事が飛び火していることが確認できますが、ハリウッドの山火事は徐々に縮小していました。It can be confirmed that the wildfire has spread beyond the areas surrounded by circles, but the wildfire in Hollywood has been gradually decreasing.
山火事５日目 / Wildfire Day 5
この頃は、ダウンタウンに降っていた灰は目を凝らさないと見えない程度になっていたと思います。
ただ、たまたまパサデナの手前まで行く用事があった際、2,3時間駐車していただけでこんなに灰が積もっていました。。Around this time, I think the ash falling in downtown had become so little that you had to squint to see it. However, when I happened to have a reason to go just before Pasadena and parked for only 2 or 3 hours, there was so much ash accumulated.
ブーケ💐気にする方は、日本人以外でもマスクをしていた方をちらほら、、。
For those who are concerned, there were a few people wearing masks even among non-Japanese.
山火事６日目 / Wildfire Day 6
ハリウッドなどの山火事は完全に消失しましたが、山火事規模の大きかったパリセーズやパサデナでは消火活動に時間を要しているようでした。While the wildfires in Hollywood and other areas have completely been extinguished, it seems that the firefighting efforts in places like Palisades and Pasadena, where the fires were larger in scale, are taking more time.
後日談 / Epilogue
今回の山火事では、広範囲の森林だけでなく数多くの家も全焼してしまいました。
実際に友人から「知人が避難してきた！」「知人の家が全焼した！」という悲しい生の話も耳にしていました。。。
In this recent wildfire, not only a wide area of forest was burned, but also numerous houses were completely destroyed. In fact, I heard sad firsthand accounts from friends saying things like, ‘A friend of mine evacuated!’ and ‘A friend’s house was entirely burned down!’
そして、語学学校への登校が再開され落ち着いてきた頃、原因不明の発熱と倦怠感で2月はほとんど寝込んでいました💦私の他にも、この時期は同じような症状で会社など休んだ日本人が数多くいたそうです。
Then, around the time when attending language school resumed and things began to settle down, I was bedridden for most of February due to an unexplained fever and fatigue💦 It seems that many other Japanese people took sick leave from work during this period with similar symptoms.
数多くの家が焼けてしまったので、アスベスト等の様々な化学物質が空気中に蔓延し大気汚染が酷かったのでしょう。。。そりゃ、体壊しますよね。。。
Since many houses have burned down, various chemicals such as asbestos must have spread in the air, and air pollution must have been severe… No wonder it wrecks your health…
まとめ
ニュースからは知れないようなダウンタウンから見たLA山火事の当時の状況や後日談などで少しでも記憶に残っていただけると嬉しいです。
I hope that the stories about the situation during the LA wildfires and the aftermath seen from downtown, which you wouldn’t hear about from the news, will remain in your memory even just a little.
